چکیده
Sugarcane demands large amounts of nutrients to reach a high level productivity. Nutrients are generally supplied by mineral fertilizers, but their costs and negative environmental impacts have generated interest in greater use organic nutrient sources such as composted sewage sludge (CSS). In this study, we evaluated changes soil chemical properties after the application CSS or CSS/mineral fertilizer (MF) combinations containing sugarcane seedlings under nursery conditions. Treatments included: T1: conventional fertilization without CSS, T2: 100% recommended MF (06–30–24); T3: 2.5 Mg?1 CSS; T4: 5.0 T5: 7.5 T6: 50% MF, T7: T8: T9: T10: T11: MF. Soil were from surface (0.0–0.25 m) subsurface (0.25–0.50 horizons. The results showed that increase did not affect matter content at either depth, while Zn concentrations increased horizon. Mg ha?1 with resulted highest pH values, sum bases, cation-exchange capacity, P, K, Ca, Mg, Cu, an nurseries improves fertility, reduces requirements, and, thus, facilitates sustainable disposal sludge.

Use of composted sewage sludge in growth media for broccoli.
In this study, the use of composted sewage sludge (CSS) as a binary component with peat (P) in growth media for a horticultural crop, broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. Botryti cv. Marathon), was evaluated. Four treatments were established, based on the addition of increasing quantities of composted sewage sludge to peat (0%, 15%, 30% and 50%, v/v). Physical, physico-chemical and chemical analyse...
متن کاملFate of nonylphenol and 17beta-estradiol contained in composted sewage sludge after land application.
Many environmental problems caused by endocrine disrupters (EDs) have been reported. Because little is known about the fate of EDs accumulated in sewage sludge, we carried out a study to clarify the fate of EDs in composted sludge after its application to soil. Nonylphenol (NP) and 17beta-estradiol (E2) were measured for leachate and soil. High concentrations of NP and E2 were detected in the l...

متن کاملLand application of sewage sludge: A soil columns study
A column study was conducted to assess the potential Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb movement through a reconstructed soil profile to which surface composted sewage sludge was applied. Sewage sludge was mixed into the top 100 mm of each column at the rates of 357 (H), 223 (M) and 22 Mg·ha-1 (L). Treatment H was calculated according to the critical soil concentration and treatments M and L were calcul...
متن کاملPreliminary Investigation for Forecasting the Content of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons after Soil Fertilization with Sewage Sludge
In addition to the positive effects on the physical, chemical and biological soil properties of the application of sewage sludge into the soil, there is often an increase of both organic and inorganic pollutants in the soil. One of the most popular organic xenobiotics frequently present in sewage sludge are polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The aim of this study is to determine possibilities fo...
